Iligan City is a highly urbanized and a 1st class city in the province of Lanao Del Norte, Philippines. It is located in the northeastern part of Mindanao and faces Iligan Bay and its 795 km southeast of Metro Manila. Iligan falls within the third type of climate wherein the seasons are not very pronounced. Rain is more or less evenly distributed throughout the year. It is a tropical location so it does not experience cold weather, and because of its graphical location (outside of the typhoon belt) it does not experience strong weather disturbances. It is also an earthquake free area. Iligan is a predominantly Christian with a majority hold of Catholics. Iliganons are the mixture of the Muslim and Cebuano population with a minority of Tagalog and some other cultural minorities and immigrants from other places. It's current population is 322,821. It is also the "City of Waterfalls".
Getting in
Nationals from the vast majority of countries can enter the Philippines without a visa for a period not exceeding 21 days as long as they have return ticket, as well as passports valid for a period of at least 6 months beyond the period of stay. Nationals of Israel and Brazil may enter the country without a visa for a stay not exceeding 59 days while holders of British National (Overseas), Hongkong, and Macau passports are allowed to stay without visa exceeding 7 days. Nationals of different countries are required to have visa and can be obtain under the Bureau of Immigration's Visa Upon Arrival Program (VUAP).

The fastest and the most convenient way to reach Iligan City is taking a plane to Cagayan De Oro City. There are daily flights to Cagayan de Oro from Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport), Cebu (Mactan-Cebu International Airport) and Davao (Davao International Airport) like Cebu Pacific, South East Asia Airlines, Philippine Airlines, and Zest Air. Travel time to Manila takes 1 hour and 20 minutes while Cebu and Davao takes only 2o minutes.
By Boat

From Manila, you can take a boat going to Cagayan De Oro Seaport and then take a taxi or bus to Iligan City. From Manila, you can also take a boat to Ozamis City. This boat will drop you in Iligan Seaport itself. From Cebu, there is daily boat schedule going to Cagayan De Oro Seaport.
BY Bus

Upon arriving at Cagayan de Oro Airport (by plane) or Cagayan De Oro Seaport (by boat), you can take a taxi cab going to Bulua Terminal. At Bulua Terminal, you can find buses going to Iligan like Rural Tours and Transit or Super 5. The buses are modern and very fast with aircondition and movie playing on the video screen to help you relax. Travel time from Cagayan De Oro to Iligan is approximately one-hour-and-half (same when taking a taxi).

Of course as you arrive in Iligan City, you will need a cozy place to sleep and stay. I'm sure you wouldn't want to sleep in the streets. So Iligan City offers adequate hotels for every kind of traveler. There are economy class hotels, pension houses, inns and lodges.

Well, its your first day in Iligan City and as you busied yourself to witness the Diyandi Festival, don't forget to visit St. Michaels Cathedral found in the heart of Iligan. If you're planning to go there, we recommend you to try the Philippine's famous mode of transportation, the "Tartanillia" or if your afraid of horses, you can take a Jeepney instead.
